A Thanksgiving message from Director Coba

As we prepare for another Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to take a moment to pause and reflect on the year and the many things we are all thankful for.

First and foremost its a time to be thankful for family and friends whether we are able to share the day with them in person or not. It’s a time to say a prayer for or try to help out those who are not as fortunate as we are. It’s a time to thank our service men and women who are protecting our freedom overseas and unable to be with their families during the holiday season.

It’s a time to be thankful for our Oregon farmers, ranchers, and fishers who provide the wonderful food and drink that is often the centerpiece of our holiday celebrations. We are so lucky to live in this state that is able to produce an incredible bounty of food and drink as well as many other products that are central to the holiday season such as Christmas trees, holly, poinsettias, and on and on and on.

So I would ask that as you gather with family and friends and enjoy a wonderful meal and decorations, don’t forget to thank our hardworking farmers, ranchers, and fishers for all they bring to us day in and day out.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Katy Coba, Director

Oregon Department of Agriculture
